Key Features & Design
Here’s what the brace offers:
- Point Pressure System: The brace applies pressure at specific points — sternal pad (front chest), pubic pad (front lower), and Thoraco-Lumbar pad — to help restrict forward flexion and promote better spinal alignment.
- Anatomical Design: Shaped to fit the body contours; includes padding and supports shaped to correspond to chest, pubic region, and lower back for better fit and comfort.
- Wrappable / Fastened: Designed to be worn frontally (i.e. front panels + back) with adjustable fastenings so that the brace can be tightened to restrict motion. (Though LifeWear calls it “Universal”, so one size fits most with adjustability)
Key Benefits
- Helps prevent forward bending (flexion) of the spine, which is important in certain vertebral injuries, post-operative phases, or conditions involving instability.
- Promotes proper spinal alignment by using pads strategically located to counteract forward motion.
- Can reduce pain and stress on injured spinal segments by limiting motion that aggravates damage.
- As a “harder” type support (compared to soft braces), it encourages posture correction and helps the spine be held more rigidly.
Usage & Fit Tips
- Put it on so that the sternal (chest) pad is placed properly on the sternum, the Thoraco-Lumbar pad aligns with the lower back / thoraco-lumbar junction, and the pubic pad is lower front.
- Adjust fasteners / straps so the brace restricts forward bending (if that’s what is prescribed) but is not so tight that breathing or posture is severely compromised.
- Wear only as long as prescribed by your doctor / physiotherapist. Frequent breaks might be needed (e.g. to eat, shower, stretch) unless instructed otherwise.
- Monitor skin under pads; ensure padding is in place and braces are clean.
