A frog splint is a kind of finger splint with two malleable arms (often aluminum) that wrap around a finger to maintain alignment, particularly at interphalangeal (IP) joints (like the distal and proximal joints). The arms fold over to grip and align the finger without requiring external taping.

• Malleable Dual Arms / Aluminum Strips
  Two bendable metal arms (often aluminum) that you can contour to wrap around each side of the finger, controlling its alignment. Frog splints typically use this design to maintain desired position.
• Foam / Soft Lining / Padding
  The inner surface (in contact with the finger) is padded or cushioned to reduce pressure points and improve comfort during long wear. Frog splints in medical supply lines often include foam lining.
• Tape-Free Mounting / No Additional Wrap Required
  Because of the fold-over design of malleable arms, no external taping may be needed—the arms hold the finger in place themselves. Frog splints are designed so the arms grip and stabilize without separate tape.
• Finger Position Control / Joint Immobilization
  The splint is meant to maintain interphalangeal (IP) joints in a set position (often slight flexion or neutral), to limit unwanted bending that could disrupt healing.
• Adjustable / Custom Fit
  Because the arms are malleable, one can adjust the width / bend to suit different finger thicknesses and shapes. Frog splints are known for this adjustability.
• Smooth / Buffed Edges
  To prevent skin damage, the metal edges are smoothed or rounded. Many medical frog splints mention that metal edges are buffed.
• Durability / Reusable
  The metal arms can withstand repeated bending (within limits) and the padding / lining materials should last through multiple uses.
• Compact / Low Profile Design
  Frog splints are generally slim and stay close to the finger, making them less bulky than full finger casts or large braces.
• Universal or Multiple Sizes
  The design may cover a size range (short, medium, long finger lengths) or be supplied in different versions, allowing selection for different fingers.
• Easy Application / Removal
  Because the arms fold over, applying or removing the splint is relatively straightforward compared to more involved braces or straps.
