LifeWear Shoulder Immobilizer Universal (LWC10)

The LifeWear Universal Shoulder Immobilizer (LWC10) is an orthopaedic support product designed to keep the shoulder and arm immobilized in a neutral position. It’s intended for use in cases such as post‐operative recovery, dislocation, soft tissue injury, or other shoulder injuries where restricting movement aids healing.

Uses 

• Post-operative recovery after shoulder surgery.
• Shoulder dislocation or subluxation (to keep shoulder stable)
• Soft tissue injuries around the shoulder (e.g. tendons, ligaments) where immobilization can help.
• Provides good immobilization and maintains neutral shoulder position. Helps reduce strain on healing tissues.
• Universal fit allows it to be used by many different body types without needing many size variants.
• Adjustable chest wrap adds stability and prevents slipping.
• Softer materials and padding help with comfort vs. more rigid splints.
• Moderate weight (≈ 250 g) — heavy enough for effectiveness, light enough to not be overly burdensome.

How to Use It Correctly

1. Fit the Chest Wrap First: Secure the chest wrap firmly but not too tightly. It should keep the immobilizer from shifting, but breathing should remain comfortable.
2. Place Arm Correctly: Arm should be held close to the body, elbow bent if required (depends on injury), with shoulder neutral (not rotated outward).
3. Adjust Straps: Use the adjustable straps to set the height and angle of arm. Ensure the elbow is supported; the wrist may also need support depending on how low the immobilizer holds the arm.
4. Check for Comfort: No sharp edges pressing; padding should cushion contact points. If straps cut into skin or compress vessels/nerves, loosen or adjust.
5. Wear Duration: As prescribed by your doctor. Usually more time in early days/weeks, then gradually reduce. Remove briefly to allow hygiene/circulation if needed.
6. Clean & Maintain: Wipe or wash (per instructions), allow to dry fully; check Velcro/hook closures for wear; ensure padding hasn’t lost shape
